Call it Shakespeare by the Pond.

Carl Sandburg College Theatre is taking the work of the Bard of Avon outdoors with its production of “Love’s Labour’s Lost” from May 7-9. Directed by Sandburg theater instructor Robert Thompson, performances of this classic Shakespeare comedy will take place on the Loft Patio behind Building E on the College’s Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd. In case of inclement weather, shows will be held inside Sandburg’s John M. Lewis Gymnasium, where masks will be required.

"What I discovered most in our time together is that we do not like to be isolated. I think this play speaks to that bit,” Thompson said. “Our plans and intentions tend to take a backseat to making meaningful connections, even if we know we shouldn’t. We need each other, and that is why I chose this play."

Show times are 7:30 p.m. each evening, and tickets are $5 each. Due to COVID-19, each show will be limited to 50 spectators. Purchase your tickets today on Eventbrite. Spectators will be required to fill out a short health screening upon arrival, and social distancing will be enforced.
